Hi Guys, OK Brothers Galaxy won't start, it all started the other day. went out to start it on the morning and the starter just clicked as if the battery was flat, so he jumped it and it started, it's ran OK for the past few days until yesterday (Thursday) when his partner was driving along and she said the dashboard lit up like a Christmas tree and started beeping (she said it was beeping like it was low on diesel), she said it still drove but she pulled in and turned it off, but when she tried to start it, it just clicked as if the battery was flat, the battery is pretty new, I have read on here about a common fault to do with the fuse box under the bonnet and the Alternator cable, so I'm asking if anybody has any other idea's what it could be just in case it's not that..

Many Thanks

How old is the battery? Could just be at the end of its life...

Thanks for reply, I'd say it is only about  8 month old.

After googling it and being redirected to here, also finding on Honest John that their descriptions sound just like it, I'm hoping it's the Alternator cable, thanks to Silverbeast for the photo's.

How very strange these Fords are........Brother went out to it this morning in the freezing cold and it started first turn of the key, He is bringing me the car later today to check it, I wonder if when it gets hot it breaks the circuit, but when it cools down it then creates a circuit.

Just a short update, got hold of the proper connection and crimping tool, the cable had melted slightly, cut off old connection, cut back the insulation on the cable to find bright wire but could not find any, wire was slightly oxidised ( so I'll have to pick up so cable), anyway all was fine for a few days then it did it again, but at least we know what the problem is.

1 question would the cable from a set of jump leads rated at 200amp be OK to use as a replacement cable.

What guage is the wire? If it actually says rated to/at 200amps on the cable then yes it should be fine. Lots of jump leads claim ratings which are peak not sustained so you'll have to double check the physical cable.
