galaxy 1.9 2000 diesel, wont turn over, continuous beep from rear of vehicle

just a quick one guys, sorry for lack of info, jus on my way out.

car has been off the road, during driveshaft replacement, not started for a week or two.

fitttewd all today, tried to start car but nothing.... key goes in, turns, all lights up on dash etc as it should, but just doesnt crank, there is one beep from key being turned as usual, then that stops and one from the back of the car starts and just goes continuously, and the car wont turn over......

any ideas? could it be its sensing its in reverse and wont start?

If it was ok before and its just been standing for a couple of weeks id charge the battery and try again

hiya, yeah i charged the battery before i left, just connected it up and i also noticed it was in R on the dash, so gave the stick a wiggle and put it in N, an it started np, ill give the mechanism a clean out and see if it helps, had problems intermittently with removing the key from ignition, also told its due to not being able to remove they key unless its in park so will see =]

Yes you can only remove key when in park.
