Hello all,
Just wondering if anybody can recommend a suitable rear brake caliper piston wind back tool for a Mk2 without having to buy a kit with umpteen different attachments that I'll never need?!

   Thanks!

I have the Laser one that works well has just two size options that has fitted all the ones I've done.

With VCDS lite (full version) need a code clearing or want to scan for faults in the north kent area, PM me. All for a pint of Strongbow.

The last 'wind-in' calipers I played with were on a Mk5 Golf - I managed to get them to retract using a fairly standard G clamp with the 'free' cup pushing on the piston.

The screw thread pitch of the G clamp was very similar to that of the caliper, any difference was taken up by the fact the cup is free to rotate.

I had to 'start' the movement of the piston by turning it [clockwise], after that the normal action of the G clamp tightening moved the piston back in without any more turning effort having to be expended.

FYI - the pistons are retracted clockwise on BOTH sides [on the Golf - I guess the Galaxy is the same].

Thanks for the input guys, Chris, is the laser tool a universal fit item or do they make several different ones- if so, do you have a part number by any chance?

  Thanks!  ;D

Hi Paul

Mines about 20 years old I bought it for the Ford Scorpio back in the 80's so it's not in the packaging now, have measured the distance between the pins and it identical to the one in the link below.

Thanks for that Chris, at that price I won't hesitate to get one! Just didn't want to buy a set with loads of interchangeable heads that I don't need!
