Fog Lights

Hi there, I know this might seem obvious but what do I need to install the front fog lights on my Alhambra? I have the internal switch and fog lights, what do I need for the wiring?

Seriously, you need to decide if you want to factory install them or externally wire them - the latter being the easier.

If I externally wire them I guess I will not be able to use the existing switch?

No you can use the existing switch - you'll just need to provide a dedicated power supply and the car won't "know" they are on.

ok, where you say a dedicated power supply, could I essentially use one of these fog light wiring kits and instead of using the switch that is provided, use the existing switch?

If that is the case do you know what the pin outs are on the existing switch?

Easy tiger - it's not something I just know!

Looking at the wiring diagram it's actually spurred from the rear fog light supply internally by the switch so, in theory at least, it's much easier then originally expected. Replace the rear fog switch for the f/r switch and the supply will already be present on pin 2. You can then connect directly to pin 8 to feed both front fog lights with no additional wiring / relay at all.

1) Ensure you use suitable cable that can handle the current - 9.17Amp for two 55w fogs.
2) You may need to change fuse 26 from a 10amp to a 15amp.
3) Unlikely but you may need to take pin 10 to ground if it's not already wired to provide the return for the integrated warning lamp.
4) Remember to take plenty of photo's for us

ok, i have the switch and i will connect the pins. what about wiring to the fogs?

Directly from pin 8 - take the feed to fog one, then T over to fog two. Connect both the other terminals to ground.
