I'm about to replace some steering rack bits, I'm hoping that I don't alter the tracking but will get alignment checked once I'm done. Does anybody have a good recommendation for where to get the alignment checked? I've got the usual tyre service centres like kwik fit, ats etc. Also is it worth paying the extra for 4 wheel alignment on this car? I'm not sure there is any alterations that can be made to the rear geometry so would just front wheel be enough?

Most of the big tyre centres will do an ok-ish job - ideally you want to find an independent who will take the time to do it properly! If you live anywhere near Wiltshire then I highly recommend Harvey's - https://harveysautotech.co.uk

As for four wheel, there isn't anything that can be adjusted however the front can be compensated - unless you have an issue though I probably wouldn't bother.

Another vote for Harvey's I had a bmw aligned by a tyre place when I had new rubber. They gave up saying couldn't get it right and probably needed some suspension work doing. I knew there was nothing wrong with any suspension components as it was all new. Took it to Doug he had it all sorted no problem.

Thanks for the advice, I'm on the Hampshire/Wiltshire border so I'll give that garage a look once I'm ready to get it sorted, it wants a pair of boots for the rear so they'll have to come first.

Yes, always be cautious with wheel alignment services. It seems to me that most garages don't have a clue what they're doing when it comes to wheel alignment, most of these sorts of places can't even get the tyre pressure right so what hope have they of doing something as fiddly as aligning the wheels.
I drive a Seat Alhambra 1.9Tdi which has 115bhp and an automatic gearbox.

I am happy to help you with all your questions. I am not a qualified mechanic but seem to be better at fixing my car than even the most experienced garages.

I have lots of friends here and very much enjoy talking with you all. Always remember, a motor car is a serious tool and should be treated with respect. Put your safety first, always.
