Hi

I have read quite a bit on programming new keys but I am still not clear on what is best.

A lot of sites say that Vag Tacho should read my immo pin but I found it doesn't when I tried it.

I have a 1999 1.9TDI and I am thinking of using either

T300
SBB v33
AD9000 pro, or
AD90+

My first choice for cost and function would be the SBB v33 but does anyone know if it will work?

If not, I was looking at the AD90 and AD900 - is the 900 worth the extra costs?

The T300 seems a bit of a mystery, I hear it is supposed to be the best but never exactly what it does and how good it is at doing it.

If anyone can advise me it would be a great help and I am sure other people could benefit from knowing.

Thanks

First issue is that you don't have an IMMO car :)

IMMO is a VAG (VW/Audi) group thing which controls the immobiliser and is located in the instrument cluster. The confusion comes because the Galaxy cluster is made by VDO for VW but on behalf of Ford - it therefore still has an IMMO controller however access is blocked and it essentially controls nothing anyway!

You need to be looking for software that can talk to Ford's PATS system ;)

Hi Mirez

Thanks for that, it will save me a lot of hassle.

If I can find a way of getting the PIN, can full VCDS program a new key?

Thanks

i done some work for a senior diagnostic technician, and he had all this sort of gear coming out of his ears.he ran various systems on my car and then started to proceed to program my key, then stoped and said 'if this dont work you need to go to the dealers for recoding' as iirc its downloaded  from the ford system/intranet.so my sphincter told me to stop :o
so plz be sure you know what you are doing OR it could cost you a lot more??.
from what i hear a lot of mobile auto locksmiths only clone the chip rather then re coding?

The easy answer to that is no VCDS will not program a key as the FORD pats will give you an out code but then you have to log into the FORD database to get the incode, the only system I know of that can actually read the Ford pats is the FORD VCM diagnostics to actually add another key unless you have 2 keys in which case you can do it yourself. Most locksmiths as has already been stated will only clone the chip in the key.

Thanks for all your help.

I was thinking about cloning but was not sure if the Galaxy had anti-cloning programming.

Looks like a clone key then  :)

there is another way,BUT I WOULDNT SUGGEST THIS.
hide the chip near the ignition hey presto you can now have 2 keys working your car,BUT AS THIS IS AN INSURANCE ISSUE TREAD VERY CAREFULLY.

Wouldn't even suggest it mate, If you do that a screwdriver / knife / bowling ball... ANYTHING can start the car and dont forget the v-dub lock barrels of this era aren't exactly bullet-proof... I opened a scrappy sharans tailgate with a nail file once!

Hi

Took me a while to latch onto what you were saying gregers, it was only when I read what Mirez said that I realised. It's tempting but not worth it.

I spoke to an auto-locksmith about buying a Ford VCM and he reckons he always uses VAG tools for key programming on all Galaxys and checking the web site for Ford VCM it says the same. So now I am a bit confused.

Anyway, looking at the cloning route, does anyone know if the AD90+ or AD900 pro will clone a Galaxy chip and if the AD900 is much better?

Thanks for all the advice.
