Another central locking thread

Back in September 2018 I fixed the NSRear door lock and have had uneventful central locking
until recently when I found the door no longer actually locked/opened electrically and as it seemed to have no  effect on the others
I ignored it as I rarely use it.

This has bitten me in the arse a bit as the car has just failed the MOT on few not too serious issues
but one was the NSR door wouldn't open!

My MOT guy is 100 yards away and cant do the underneath,grimy stuff for me until next week so its back here
and now the damn thing works OK again !

I have the door card off and about to whip the lock mechanism out but my memory of what I did back then is vague
I did find the post and pics of when I stripped the mech down and cleaned out the motor


The Nitty Gritty:
The most important thing for now is have the door open and close for the MOT
the central locking can wait for now.
My current theory is the motorised lock on this door may have partially worked enough to put the door in a locked state
at just right/wrong time
I'd like to have it working as a simple door for the MOT and then be able to fix the CL at my leisure
Will simply disconnecting the electrical connector to the lock enable this?

So long as itââ,¬â,,¢s in the unlock position unplugging the wiring from mechanism will stop it from locking so door can be opened/closed.

Sounds like the motor on it is playing up, probabbly the deadlocking one rather than the lock itself (as I'd guess you can't just pull the inner handle to open the door when its locked?). You can usually pickup a decent one off ebay or a breakers as long as you get them to confirm its tested. As said above unplugging it will stop it playing about, and can be locked by pushing handle in then.

I've pulled the plug on the unit now and its working ok as a simple door
which I can lock from the inside while the other doors work on the fob.
It wouldn't be an inconvenience to keep it like this as I rarely open it but
after I get it MOT'd   I'll have another look.
I'm not spending Ã,£100 on a new one and leery of buying a SH one when its probably had
a similar life cycle to this one unless its dirt cheap.
