VW Sharan 2006 - Nearside passenger door hasn't locked for the past year or so when using the remote key so have had to manually lock it, however over the past week I have been unable to lock it even manually so it's unlocked all the time. The other doors lock OK.
Also the window doesn't wind down using either the driver switch or the switch  on the door - this has only been in the last week or so. Any ideas and are they connected.

Suspect something has fallen off in its innerds, probably need to take the door card off and have a look to see what is going on.
I drive a Seat Alhambra 1.9Tdi which has 115bhp and an automatic gearbox.

I am happy to help you with all your questions. I am not a qualified mechanic but seem to be better at fixing my car than even the most experienced garages.

I have lots of friends here and very much enjoy talking with you all. Always remember, a motor car is a serious tool and should be treated with respect. Put your safety first, always.

I would say the initial not locking and window not working are wiring related, pull gator back and have a look.

As for not locking manually I would sort wiring first just in case itââ,¬â,,¢s that causing spurious feed to the latch assembly stopping manual locking

I'd say the wiring is the prime suspect too.
Does the mirror adjust work on that door?
If not, this suggests broken wiring too.
If you get the window and mirror working but the lock still doesn't work
you may have to strip the lock assembly and clean up the motor commutator
( or fit a known good one)
I did that on my NS rear door and it solved all the bloody irritating central locking woes

You may also want to buy a bag of those clippy stud things
that keep the door card snug
I broke loads of them getting my cards off

Start with the passenger door, but it wouldn't be a bad idea to check the rest too, including the boot. I had various locking issues with the mk1 which came and went, sorted out eventually by redoing the boot wiring once i'd got into the gaiter there.
