Soggy carpets (again)

Hey guys.  we,ve had a bit of rain over the past few weeks and now my carpets are somped yet again.  where are the drain holes to check to see if there blocked. Cheers guys.

Hi there, I've had a couple of issues with soggy carpets on my wife's Galaxy. When we first bought the vehicle, driver and passenger carpets were both wet. Problem was caused by a large build up of dirt and earth that had settled between the front inner wings and wheel arch liners. The drain holes at the bottom of the wheel arches just in front of the front doors were completely blocked so all the rainwater was collecting behind the wheel arch liner like a sponge and seaping through somehow into the cabin. Was remedied by removing the lower retaining screws for the wheel arch liner and pulling it forward far enough for a huge pile of earth to fall onto the ground below! Give it a good blast to get any stubborn dirt out with the hose and make sure to clear out those drain holes whenever the car is washed. I've also had the feed for the rear washer come apart from it's joint underneath the carpet in the front passenger footwell. This soaked the carpets too but just needed reconnecting and taping up with some duck tape to make sure it didn't part again. Hope this helps.

Just thought I'd mention too, if you've still got soggy carpets make sure your parking sensor module isn't sitting in a small pond beneath the passenger seat!!!

for the replys guys.  i,ll check it out on the next decent day. dont believe i have one of those mushdy?? got parking sensor in the rear bumper but dont believe i have the wiring to them.

Could be different on the the mk1 dave, I'm only familiar with the mk2s where they're under the passenger seat. Did you find your leak?

The Mk1 parking sensor system is in the smaller hatch opening of the boot area - you'll have a small speaker and series of lights up on the top of the passenger D pillar if its factory fit

Hi. I also had soggy carpets for quite a while which turned out to have have been caused by water entering through the sunroof. The seal around the glass in the sunroof isn't water tight, but any water getting through should be caught in a channel which runs around the opening below the glass. At the front left-hand corner any water collected in the channel escapes through a short pipe concealed behind the roof lining, and then flows through rubber tubing down the front near-side pillar, and eventually exits the car somewhere behind the front near side wheel I believe (mentioned in an earlier reply). In my case the rubber hose appeared to have shrunk with age and detached from the short stub at the corner of the sunroof, causing water to collect in the roof lining (remarkably waterproof) where it ran about before gradually leaking out, mainly behind the trim on the front left pillar, and collecting in the front passenger foot-well.  Removing the front corner of the roof lining wasn't too difficult, and once the rubber tubing and drain hole were revealed it wasn't hard to extend the tube by a couple of inches with a bit of spare pipe. Two years on and no more problems.

hey guys. :)nopes i aint found it yet mushdy.no sun roof so no leaks from there. think the parking sensors are a aftermarket jobbys but after looking behind the rear bumper theres no wiring hooked up to em.also there is no little speaker and no leds in the rear pillar
