Come on then what's the upgrade I can see it's a different caliper and bracket and new disc?

With VCDS lite (full version) need a code clearing or want to scan for faults in the north kent area, PM me. All for a pint of Strongbow.

The callipers are from a Transporter Caravelle, the disc is matched to the calliper/pads and is 330mm diameter up from 300mm - standard on the later Galaxy Diesel.

The rears are 294mm up from 268mm.

Amazingly the front all pretty much just bolted up, very little modification needed (which is good when it comes to brakes!) - here's hoping the rears are the same!

Feck, but that stops well now? What it cost ya
Toot-Toot! Beep-Beep!

They look like the same callipers that are on mine.  Mine are listed as a transporter calliper as well though. Not sure of the disc size, but they look big. The brakes on my sharan are possibly these best brakes I have ever had on a car though.

Very possibly the same, the 4mo is listed as having either 330mm or 313mm discs fitted to it - it's the reason I went ahead as I thought it should fit :)

They look good though.  8-) I think mine are actually 313mm but they do stop well.  :)

Ah that reminds me of the days we used to upgrade the brakes on our Mondeo's!

I am thinking of doing this on the Lambra once I have fettled with the engine. I think it will probably need better brakes after a few performance upgrades!

I would have thought some brembo disks and calipers would have been a decent upgrade ( not that u need them unless u are on a race track lol ) but good job sir

Hi to all.

I ask if somebody have the part no. of the discs and callipers since i canÃ,´t find any car or van using 330 discs.
I found one car A4 B7 avant using similar material but with 320 discs.
IÃ,´m asking if the 320mm and callipers of the A4 B7 fits the WGR 130ps with 17" wheels or if i have the part no the 330 discs.

Audi discs are part no

Dusting off an old thread...

I'm gathering together the bits to do this to my Alhambra. @Mirez - 7 years on, do you think the brake upgrade was worth doing?

From what I can work out, the bigger front calipers have a short (60mm?) rigid brake pipe from the caliper body to a bracket that's bolted to the caliper. As I'm going to buy refurbished calipers, I'll need to get these bits from somewhere. Those bits will probably end up costing as much as as the calipers  :D

Have you got any photos of the rear brake conversion?

Mornin'

In a word? No, not really. For me it was aesthetics since I have 18's on and the little discs looks lost but efficiency wise there was no change between the smaller and larger discs (referenced by MoT brake test with same tyres). The benefit I assume would come from prolonged use of the brakes like alpine roads but for UK roads you probably won't notice much, if any, difference.

I never did the rears in the end, the caliper mount points are different between 'small' and 'large' so unless you want to change the rear arms or faff about manufacturing brackets then it can't be done.

Ah! For the rears, that's well worth knowing. I'd been making a list of the part numbers for the 294mm rear brakes and I had wondered about mounting points. I had seen variants of the rear arms listed on 7zap but the descriptions don't let on as to the differences between them or which vehicle variants get which part. The conversion list gets extensive - disc guards, handbrake cables, brake hoses would all have to be changed, as well as the calipers, carriers, discs and pads.

I'm kind of committed to the conversion of the fronts now anyway as I've already bought quite a few of the parts. The caliper carriers are the unicorn parts; very hard to find!

Those brakes look amazing

I love upgrades like this, so practical and makes the car safer too
