I will be replacing the timing belt on my brothers Alhambra TDi next weekend. He has a 130bhp model - can someone please confirm that there is no difference doing the 130 over the 115 AUY engine ?

Hello! I am advised that the Timing Bekt should be replaced every 4 years or 40,000 miles on a MK2 Alhamb, whichever comes first. Does this sound about right or is it something else? There is a lot of conflicting advice out there on the Internet. Thank you.

Not sure, but I think they're essentially the same
Fitting 'the kit' and not just the belt seems wise

Just read that guide, very good but what an ordeal!! Couldnââ,¬â,,¢t they just use a chain to avoid all that hassle every few years?

Yeah same set up whether 115 or 130.

Chains these days are not as robust like years gone by. And if and when they do have issues are far more expensive and time consuming than a belt. Best of having a belt change every 40k than the ticking time bomb of simplex chains and minute oil jets. As any bmw n47,n57 and n14/3/8 engines to name a few will testify.

Phew, thank you.  Sry pleased to know that my engine has been set up the best way with a belt. Also does this mean that the 130bhp engine is the same as the 115bhp one but just has different software perhaps? I would like my car to go faster up hills and have been interested in remaps lately. Thank you

130 has different injectors,turbo and map and manifold/egr are slightly different
A remap on yours will most likely get you to around 130 performance.

Hello, friends. So I checked the Superchips website and it says my car will increase to 161bhp and torque of 405NM. Will it wear the car out if I do this please. My wife says stop messing with the car because it works just fine as it is and she doesnââ,¬â,,¢t want me to break it. Thank you

Belts are now the norm because of noise emission regulations.  Every little helps - and chains can be seriously noisy.

Im using the guide from the knowledge base on this site which is also linked in the thread on my 115 AUY, pictures in the guide is from 130, so same procedure for sure.

The AUY 115 has a 130 size inlet manifold, but i believe the 130 has different PD elements and turbo at least.

Ive got my 115 remapped and got 169hp and 365nm :)

130 has different injectors,turbo,map and the egr/anti shudder housing is bigger.
