hi all,

Having a bit of trouble finding the correct front n/s calliper, car is a 2003 '52' seat alhambra 2.8 V6, I have ordered online a new caliper but it is different, the pad retaining spring is different and the carrier doesn't fit over the disc.

I currently have these pad retaining springs on the car as below.

im assuming it has 300mm discs as the discs I also purchased are too small, but I see there is a possibility it could have 313mm discs as well.

does anyone have the correct part number for the n/s front caliper and disc diameter for my car?

kind regards
Scott

so ive found this website which appears to show the correct 'spring' clip for the pads and 313mm discs, the part number appears to be kind of generic when searching google and includes the caliper that I already ordered and is clearly too small, anyone know if the later callipers with the different style sping clips are interchangeable with mine?

thanks

Scott

part number listed is 7M3 615 124

The v6 shows completely different calipers to the rest in Microcat - 1108038 or YM21 1125 AA under ford for the disc. Searching for that first number comes back with this page, which lists your 313mm size
https://www.onlinecarparts.co.uk/oenumber/1108038.html

The left hand caliper is shown as YM21 2B119 CA or 1110252 - this looks totally different to the rest again, I'd suspect it may be uprated over the standard caliper, so your probably best sticking with the correct caliper. I'd be surprised if the pads will fit in the caliper at any rate though?

The picture on those also matches the one you posted above. I can't provide the Seat numbers to compare, but you may be able to find them on the web as a cross reference.

hi,

thanks for your response, have had to pull the calliper to find the correct part number and disc size, they are indeed 313mm discs.

I thought I may as well pull the piston out of the calliper and check its condition see below.

its definitely not in great shape and the external seal just fell to pieces, I have a new car now but can't bring myself to send this one to scrappers after 4 1/2 years, so I may try and source a rebuild kit with a new piston.

thanks

The seals (number 10) are p/n 1002202 or 95VW 2M032 AA on that diagram

Piston isn't shown though as you've probably noticed.
This might be worth a look, though would suggest confirming fitment as its says its for all variants (may be the case the piston is identical, but i doubt it personally, does show a diameter though so you could check that?)

This might also be worth looking at if you get stuck - This is the right part number according to the listing and microcat
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1110252-BRAKE-CALIPER/253462258034

If it helps any the seals are the same number on microcat for the 2.3 so that would suggest to me that the piston is the same on both. It would be an idea to measure the diameter as you have it apart to check, but there are several on eBay with the seals, so contacting one of them to confirm the depth should allow you to make sure. Cheaper than a replacement caliper at least.

I think the pistons are all 57mm from what Iââ,¬â,,¢ve seen, but Iââ,¬â,,¢d imagine the seals are different, Iââ,¬â,,¢ve actually just put the calliper back on, I gave the bore edge a gentle rub with 1200 grit and reassembled the original parts purely for testing and it appears ok now and the calliper releases fine.

Couldnââ,¬â,,¢t test drive cos the battery has drained and it needs a tyre, but Iââ,¬â,,¢ll happilly pay the cost of a seal kit if it can be saved from the breakers!

I'd have expected so, but the part number suggests they are the same part - see the screenshots, one is with a 2.3 engine, the other is with 2.8 engine selected. Both have the same number. Also when you select the same part on either diagram it works against both selected engines, suggesting they are the same part.
