as the heading says, what a git, any tips for getting it off, it'll be thermostat next.. read the link on car geting hot when the car works hard, checked return pipe and kinda spitting water out into expansion tank, cleaned pipe anyway, auxiliary water pump working, by touch and sound. so I'm down to water pump.. oh bit of a git getting at thermostat as well lol pipes pipes and more pipes

You can just get on with 1/4 drive socket set and juggle it off,if you are still struggling try taking alternator off it is a fairly easy job and will give you good access.

bosh.. job done, had to call in a friend for assistance lol some surprises as well, not good ones, no thermostat and so much rusty shit water, flushed what I could out will go for some cleaner of some sort tomorrow then top it up with anti freeze, as should of been lol.. ha ha ha I'm 47 and haven't worked on cars for a long time, I forgot that "it's easy" or "it won't take long" doesn t exist [emoji23]

should of added, she goes up to 90 or just below and stays there, I'm guessing that's how she's supposed to be.. why can't people look after cars and stop passing all the work on to someone else lol

Yeah 90 is the normal position it should be steady once warmed up,the true test will be on a motorway run or under load uphill.

Quite often the case the easy jobs are the ones that can be the tricky ones.... sounds like been running neat water for a while then,a cooling system flush fluid then refill with fresh coolant should sort it
