Wiring for Brake Pads Warning

Hello eveyone.
I bought a 2003 Galaxy three years ago.
I did use it every day with no problems, but two weeks ago, i had a problem with the driveshaft. So, now is the excuse to have the car some time into my garage to take some care in some details.
I already ordered the new driveshaft, that is not any problem.
But, when i bougth the car, the brake pads warning light was on. I checked the pads and they was ok. Problem was that after pads replacement, the old owner did use one with no sensors... Nothing to worry about.
I have now new pads with sensor instaled in the car, but the warning light is still on. After check the wiring, i find out that the wire in the left/front is broke and rusty ( two wires of the pads sensor broken, abs sensor wires are ok ). They are located under the ABS pumpe, and the goes into the main Harnes. I tried to fix it, but the rust goes too long in, so im not able to find continuity on the wire.
The only solution will be re-wire the connector.
I tried to find wire diagrams in internet with no luck.
Can someone give me some ideas, wire diagrams, or the pin number where this sensor is attached?

Just to confirm is it the plug thatââ,¬â,,¢s rusted or have the wires rusted and it has travelled up the wire?

Wires rusted and traveled all the way into the main harnes.
Thats why im trying to find the pin number and replace the wire.

Can you identify the wire colours? Vw usually use pin 22 or 32 on cluster but I donââ,¬â,,¢t know which it will be on yours.

The sensors are in series so shouldnââ,¬â,,¢t be too difficult to trace or run new wire in,if you can identify the wire colour then it should be easy.

The wire is brown, and i can not see if is any other color line on it.
I will check this pins, on mine.

Check the sensor other side aswell as it could be the link between the 2 sensors.

Ok, finally the wire color is Brown.
The pin is the number 7 of the connector 169 in the back of the instrument panel.
Looks like my rear wire is rusty also. So i will order a new one and just override the alarm jumping the pin 7 to ground for now...

I thought the pad warning was on a loop and when worn down it grounds and puts light on? So if that is the case you need to leave disconnected rather than grounding it.

When you say order a new one do you mean a new pad sensor/wire or is the fault within the main loom? If itââ,¬â,,¢s in main loom your only option is run a wire in as a new loom would be expensive and time consuming to fit.

As i see in some diagrams from another cars, is a loop with the pad sensors conected in series to ground.
When the circuit is open, activates the alarm. Once is activated, the warning light is ON until unit restart. So, if the wire or sensor grounds to the brake disk when breaking, the lights will keeps on.
Then, if you have the wire rusty or broke ( like me ), in some part of the loop, the control panel loose ground on this pin and activates the pad warning light.

The brake pads with sensor are new. The fault is with the main loom. But in the back side, the sensor is connected to a "extender" cable that connects over the exhaust. If im lucky, the rust will not be that far in...
With the front seccion is another history. I must think how to fix that, but the easyest way is with a new wire. Will see how to do that... But now, will just override this annoying light just jumping this pin...

Sorry my mistake just looked at a drawing it is a closed ground loop system so breaking the circuit illuminates the light. So yes you are right grounding it should get rid of the alarm.

Now you know the pin on instrument cluster it shouldnââ,¬â,,¢t be too difficult to run a new wire in.

Now is done.
Just a piece of wire to one screw fasted to the chasis in the back side of the panel.
Fail is gone.... :-)
