Hi,Iv got a 2004 galaxy with the electronic heating not the manual dials, the front cabin blower has stopped working but the rear cabin one still works ok,any ideas what I need to look for?
Kind regards.

Iv looked at the fuses and they are fine,I swopped the front for the rear one just to make sure and the rear still works with the front fuse in.

Does climatronic lights up?

Buying this car after knowing all common problems feels bit sadistic, but then again, my main income is from growing potatoes in arctic.

If that means the display yes it all works perfectly and doesnââ,¬â,,¢t flash when I put the ignition on.

Try putting front blower on highest setting. If it works, then its fan control module. If not take fan out and check it.

Yeah itââ,¬â,,¢s all set on hight but nothing, when I put the ignition on,the front one that doesnââ,¬â,,¢t works stays on the max setting but the rear one is on the lowest,I turn up the rear on full then when I turn off the ignition and then put it back on,the front on that doesnââ,¬â,,¢t work is still on the top blower setting but the rear one has gone back down to the lowest,I then turn it right up and the same thing happens when I turn the ignition off then back on.

Its because fan in back is second priority while engine is cold. If all fuses are fine then you will need to check fan. Not quite sure how easy it is to get to it.

Ah ok thankyou for all the help,Iââ,¬â,,¢ll have a look in the Haines manual on getting to it.

Looks like the hardest bit is removing the glove box 🙈

It's probably the hedgehog controller next to the blower it's usually red colour both easily accessible with the glove box out the way.

With VCDS lite (full version) need a code clearing or want to scan for faults in the north kent area, PM me. All for a pint of Strongbow.

Ah ok,does it(the hedgehog) run both front and rear fans or can I test the front one by swopping it with the rear one?if so where do I find the rear one.

Wasn't it like, when "hedgehog" goes bad, fan works at least on full?

No it will just be for the front one

The rear is much harder to get to then the front, you need to remove the boot panel on the passenger side. In the KB there is a guide to retrofitting the load cover which covers removing that panel

Bit of an update,I turned the ignition on this morning and the fan sort of grumbled,I took it out today, stripped and cleaned off all the carbon looking dust and put it directly onto a battery,it kicks into life then just dies,I did notice one brush was much more worn then the other one,Iv ordered a new one and will see if I can get some new bushes and skim the comm.thanks again for all the help 👍🏼

Well I bought a replacement unit in the end and it works a treat👍🏼

Does anyone know if my parking sensors no longer working can be related to me doing something while taking out the glove box and fan?

I canââ,¬â,,¢t imagine that would cause parking sensors to stop working.

What happens when you turn parking sensors on are they completely quiet or do you get the long error bleep and they switch off?

Ah ok,
Itââ,¬â,,¢s along beep then it goes off and the light on the button flashes.

Do you have access to vcds to plug it in and see what fault is triggered? Most likely a dodgy sensor. But worth a check of the control unit under passenger seat make sure it does not have water damage

Unfortunately no I donââ,¬â,,¢t,would you have a link to one I can purchase at a sensible price? Would it trace it back to the sensor that is faulty or would it just show up if it was a sensor fault or a controll unit fault, also what else could it be used for,

Vcds is a very comprehensive piece of dish equipment and can be purchased from the bay for about a tenner. Vcds lite is the free version so you donââ,¬â,,¢t have all the features however you can register it for $99 which then allows a lot more to be done. I registered my copy and it has paid for itself when diagnosing several faults.

If memory serves correctly the free version will give just enough info to figure which sensor at fault but would not allow you to check measure blocks.
