Ford Galaxy - Whats what in the engine bay? (Mk2 TDI)

Layer 1 - Nothing Removed, just what you find when you open the bonnet:

1 ) Airbox - Houses the air filter
2 ) Engine Cover - Simply pulls up and forward to remove, used to tidy the appearance of the engine bay and provide slight noise insulation. There are two versions, an all black smooth one fitted to the 90PS and 115PS engines and the version seen here fitted to the 130 and 150PS engines.
3 ) Oil Filter Housing - Unscrews to release the paper cone style filter
4 ) Engine Coolant Filler
6 ) Screen Wash Filler
7 ) Headlight Access Panels - These lift up to allow more access to the back of the headlight
8 ) Engine Oil Dipstick
9 ) Oil Filler
10) MAF Sensor - The "Mass Air Flow" sensor



Layer 2 - With the engine cover removed, this is what's below:

1 ) MAF Sensor - The "Mass Air Flow" sensor
2 ) Crankcase Ventilation - Pressure and Blow-By Gasses are vented back into the intake here
3 ) Cambelt Cover - Two clips hold this in place and allow for easy inspection of the condition of the timing belt
4 ) Alternator
5 ) Vacuum Chamber - Vacuum is created in this chamber for use in various systems
6 ) Oil Filter Housing - Unscrews to release the paper cone style filter
7 ) Intake Manifold, sits directly above the exhaust manifold
8 ) EGR Valve - Exhaust Gas Recirculation, a system to help reduce emissions be reusing a percentage of exhaust gas
9 ) MAP Sensor - Used to measure Boost pressure and intake temperature from the Turbo system
10) Fuel Filter
11) Glow Plug Rail



Layer 3 - With the Battery cover removed, this is what's below:

1 ) Primary Fusebox / Distribution Junction Box
2 ) PAS (Power Assisted Steering) Filler
3 ) Screenwash Filler
4 ) Battery
5 ) Engine ECU
6 ) Coolant Filler
