Just want to get some opinion to see if it would be beneficial if I did a brief guide on swapping out a dead BXE/BKC engine for a more reliable older type lump?
Basically the BXE and BKC engines from 2005 onwards are renowned for having issues with rods coming out the block, after doing research the con rods are lighter weight so smaller and they suffer with bearing wear.

Having bought an A3 with a dead BKC I opted to convert an older lump in my case an ajm,it involves a bit of mod work to boost pipe and rear main oil seal/crank sensor. You can use pretty much any engine but on 130/150 bhp you would also need to swap injectors or have remap.

I am nearing the end of my conversion but if it would be of use to you touran owners or any vag car with above mentioned engines I can take some pictures and do a right up of what I did to convert over?

I'm surprised nobody has replied to this.  It would be interesting, at least, and jolly useful to anyone in the same position, so yes, please.

Ok I will do a brief write up when I get a spare 10 minutes,I have taken some pictures along the way of what I have needed to modify along the way.
