Anyone got experience of these cars?
Toying with getting one I have seen dirt cheap as it has the common timing chain jumping issue. Would do work myself with updated bmw bits if the car is worth the hassle of stripping it down.

wasnt there a recall on these as you say about the timing issues?my bro in law has 1 but was lucky enough his had bmw warranty,i suppose it will be buyer aware to check if that particular car has had the modifications rectified?

I think there was a recall for timing chain issuesbut that was the n47 diesel,despite the prince engine having an issue and modified parts available it was not a recall. I also believe the modified parts were fitted by BMW if it was evident while car was younger than 5 years 50k miles and had full BM service history
