HI IM BACK WITH ANOTHER PROBLEM! on my auto gear box stick there is a slot selection for manual gear change. I think its called triptonic gears! im not sure. there is a + and a - for gear selection but the + gears up does not work! is there any way of fixing it? many thanks T

The tiptronic part of the selector lever mechanism has an elongated 'cut out/ slot' in the base (the bit with the P,R,N,D etc in it) that you can move the lever into when the selector is in drive (D) only to enable tiptronic operation. Can you move the lever into this cut out?

yeah I got the slot! like I said the + selector does not work, sound expensive don't it!!! the P D R 1 2 3 all work just not the triptonic selection, is there anything I can try to fix it?

Does the lever physically move into the + / - slot and towards both the + and - positions, but just not change gear when you move the lever?

Nothing in either the + or - direction? Could be something as simple as a dodgy selector switch/ lever assembly or more serious like faulty transmission control module or the wiring loom going to it. If the vehicle runs through all the gears ok whilst in drive but not tiptronic then I would surmise that the mechanical and hydraulic systems within the gearbox itself are ok and working properly, it would have to be a control issue with the electrical side of things. If you are able to check for fault codes that might be a first step.

yeah its just the + that don't work, I think your right, its got to be the + switch, ill give it a look, thanks T

As paul said best bet is get it plugged in to check codes, can't hurt to take the surround off to check the switch security and see if it is operating when lever presses it using a multimeter.

HI, no codes came up! so I think its the switch, but don't know how to get into it, do you have any ref pictures or ideas how to get into it thanks T

Bit of discussion about removing the whole gear lever assembly here, however, if it's only the electrics that you need to look at then you probably wouldn't need to go that far- parts diagram here.

SORRY GUYS, my mistake, theres nothing wrong with it! you can only change it up a gear when it gets to 2000rpm. the car did not come with a hand book and I have only just got round to reading a PDF seat Alhambra hand book. thanks for helping thou! T
