hello, what is the best engine oil to use on a vr6 that goes to the track and gets hammered a lot? ;)

Probably Mobil 1! LOL I don't know how well the autoboxes will take being hammered, just sayin'.........

OK thanks m8, are autoboxes not good for racing?
T.RIDEOUT

No personal experience but the autoboxes fitted to these vehicles can be prone to issues especially after higher mileages and if they're being hammered I don't know how well they'll stand up to it, if you do a lot of racing starts I can see the clutch packs burning out for one thing!

do you mean the vr6 gearbox or the 2.3 ford, because I think the vr6 gearbox is a vw one? thanks T

The AG5 auto gearbox (as used with the 2.8 V6 and 1.9 TDI) as I think it was called by VW/Ford was not actually made by either company, it's a Jatco box, see here.

ok, thanks, looks complicated! I was steaming down the only duel carriageway on the island yesterday, all quarter mile of it! I think before the engine got to full op temp. and I heard a loud hissing noise! do you know what this could be? many thanks T
