Hello first post on here

i have a 2015 galaxy and need advice about the 3 button keyless fob used on these.
The car was supplied with 2 fobs.one works fine but the other packed up after changing the battery.
I have tried 3 known good batteries but it is totally dead but there is no damage or reason why it should not work.
Is it likely that it needs re programming and if so could someone please talk me through the procedure.
i have searched the web but found the info very confusing and not relevant to keyless hobs.

Thanks in advance

Chris

What do you mean by not working?  Does it still work as a keyless fob and just the buttons don't work?  Does it not work as a keyless fob but the buttons do work?

Reprogramming sequences for the former depend on the type (there are at least two) of fob.  If the latter, you have lost the RFID chip in the fob or something is electronically jamming it.  Jamming would be unusual but not impossible.

hi
the fob does not work at all ie buttons do nothing and the car does not sense it as being present when in the car.

just  checked it again..
the buttons do nothing.
the car shows key not present and will not start but key is sensed when inserted in or near the plastic moulding under the steering wheel (normally the ignition switch on keyed cars),so j presume the rfid is working.
btw the fob shape is best discribed as a elongated shield.

Reprogramming:
1. Insert the key in the ignition.
2. Cycle the key from position 0 to II and
then back to 0 four times in quick
succession (about once a second).
3. Remove the key from the ignition and
press any button on the remote
control.
4. Reinsert the key and turn to position
II then 0. Remove the key and test
the remote control to confirm
programming has been successful.

The manual says this before every fob, regarding changing batteries:
CAUTION
Do not touch the battery contacts or
the printed circuit board with the
screwdriver.

Is it possible you have done this?

Thanks for the info

unfortunately the car is push button start and does not have an ingition switch, do you have info
to program this.I have not damaged the fob in any way as far as i know.

Thanks

Hi Chris try this procedure for a push start

Put the unprogrammed Intelligent Access key in the center console pocket.
Press the driver or passenger power door unlock control three times.
Press and release the brake pedal once.
Press the driver or passenger power door lock control three times.
Press and release the brake pedal once.

The indicator on the Start/Stop button should begin to flash quickly, indicating that the programming mode has been entered and two programmed Intelligent Access keys have been detected in the vehicle.
Within one minute, press the Start/Stop button.

A message will be displayed on the message center indicating that the new Intelligent Access key was programmed.
Remove the Intelligent Access key from the center console pocket and press the unlock control on the newly programmed Intelligent Access keys to exit the programming mode.
Verify that the new Intelligent Access keyââ,¬â,,¢s remote entry functions operate by pressing lock, then unlock, and then starting the vehicle.

Your new Intelligent Access key is ready to use.
Let us know how you get on. Andy

thanks for the info

could not make it work

could you clarify a couple of things

by centre console,do you mean the compartment behind the handbrake with the lift up lid

when you say press power door lock/unlock,do you mean press the buttons on the unprogrammed key

thanks

Reading post I would say the button to unlock/lock on one of the front doors, and by the pocket I am going to assume its similar set up to other cars and has a reader slot (pocket) in centre console?

the car does not have any lock/unlock buttons on the doors, just a second lever above the main door opening lever which double locks the door

think this one has beaten me,i can only presume it has to done by a ford dealer. as nowhere on the web explains how to
program this combination of fob and car (i did find out the fob is an id83 type)
thanks all for the help

any info within the onboard diagnostic menu?

cant see anything, only menu i can access is the one that does the dial sweep and led test and shows port info, does not mean a lot to me.

The car is still in warranty.
Take it to a Ford dealer and say one of the keys is not working; they "should" fall over themselves to help you.

yep i am doing that this morning ,last resort as it is sandicliffe

been to main dealers, they tested the faulty key and said it gives no output when  the buttons are pressed,
Guy said if the battery is disconnected for more than 5 mins,it can lose its memory and it can only be re programmed
by ford.Anyway it is covered by garrantee and is booked in to be done.It may take 3 to 4 hours to reprogrammed,
(sandicliffe ony work in hours 1 min = 1 hour)

anyway thanks very much to all for the advice

Useful to know about the five minute rule....

The lever above the opening one is the lock/unlock control mentioned in the reprogramming instructions.  I didn't pick up that it was keyless - rather like myself this week. Apologies.

just to let you know, took the car to the ford main dealer, they could not program the faulty key and ended up giving me a brand new one
free of charge.

That's a result then! Thanks for the update.  [GJ]
