My Sharan have been fitted with heated windscreen, but i don`t have relay for it or button to turn it on.
Ground wire has been attached properly. I need part number for relay and some information about wiring.
I have bought wire loom from original Ford parts you can see in pictures. I`m bit puzzled about brown and green connector.
Buying this car after knowing all common problems feels bit sadistic, but then again, my main income is from growing potatoes in arctic.

The heated screens are split into two, electrically.  Therefore there will be two connectors.  Maybe it is those?

two wires for connection in A pillar are both black and fit fine. Those two i was wondering about should bo signal for engine on and lights i guess. therefor i need some wiring diagram. foun relay, but one pin do not match, can be moved, but again, need diagram.

oh don`t bother. found some walktrough for mk1 http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.php?/topic/10081-heated-windscreen-wiring-diagram/page-2
and correct relay. I will try to fit in my mk2 Sharan and share pictures of process, cause i think there are couple shalaxy`s with fitted heated screens and no looms.
Wiring looms are taken out of production, reason why it took me so much time to find one on ebay. ill try to make diagram for loom also, but time is one thing i don`t have. i`ll keep an update of process when things will move on, this is nice upgrade for my arctic weather.

Good stuff.

_Really_ surprised it wasn't standard fitting for north of the Arctic circle......

Isn't that likely to be to do with it being a Ford patented item? Like you say though, for cold climates it's a real boon, even here it's a great thing to have of a frosty morning!

car was imported from belgium, and it`s not that common to have heated windscreens here, since electricity is cheap most of us have car electric preheater for engines and cockpit.

I thought the technology was shared on joint projects.  If the Galaxy can have a VW diesel engine, then the others can have the heated screen.  Not the case?

Having re-read (as I slightly misunderstood) Mark's original post, it sounds like it was an option instead of a standard fitment on the Sharan/ Alhambra (Mk2 platform). Having said that, can any Sharan/ Alhambra owners/ posters on here confirm if they've actually got one fitted? They were fairly standard on the higher specced Galaxies.

The patent may have recently lapsed, as I see the new Corsa has one.  Can't imagine that being a viable proposition if patent fees had to be paid.

I have seen couple used Sharans with fitted heated screen. My father in law also has one fitted in his Renault Laguna.
