What is this hose????

Any info as to what this hose is or what it's for! Took gear box out to replace complete new clutch kit in mk2 Galaxy 05
noticed this and would like to replace it before gearbox goes back in...
It looks like it's at the back of engine where cylinder head ends near the gearbox, goes onto a metal pipe, L shape? one end larger then other. View looking up into the engine bay from underneath.

I'm struggling to gauge which orientation you've taken that picture in or which area of the engine bay it's looking at, you say it was taken from underneath looking up- whereabouts? Engine front or rear and gearbox end or crank pulley end? I think some of the pipework I can see in the distance is EGR but I can't really identify any major components to give me a starting point.

Can see it runs close to turbo oil feed pipe,looks like it connects to rear water housing below turbo and runs up to housing on side of head.

Best bet is go down dealers and they should be able to bring a pic of hoses up so you can identify it.

Thank-you for comments.. Managed to get it of eventually! will take it to dealers hopefully they can help...What a bodge job!

Still not easy to see but it looks like EGR cooler to water housing hose.

That sure is a bodge job but it must be a bodge job that worked though.

As a semi educated guess I'd say it's going to be one of the hoses on this parts diagram.  Without being able to look at your engine bay directly though I'm not sure which.

Got one end off and had to collect water/anti freeze in bowl.

It's certainly coming off housing with coolant temp sensor in so I would guess at no1. Looks like goes to oil cooler not EGR cooler.

Has your hose got the VAG number printed on it still?
