Hi my 59 plate Galaxy has broken down twice in 2 months each time same problem, engine management light along with traction control light and loss of power. After an hour of waiting for breakdown recovery there's no error codes been stored and drives normally. The first time it happened the garage said they'd sorted it by changing the glow plugs but it happened again on Tuesday. I do have it booked to go into a different garage next week but I would like to get an idea as to possible things it could be

Did you have the esp codes read also? Was code reader a generic one as they don't pick up all faults.

I would suspect a boost related problem causing limp mode,on the ford diesel it also puts esp light on due to PCM detecting boost problems and reducing power output. Common causes are clogged egr, sticky turbo vanes or boost leaks.

Hi, I had to have the egr replaced a few months ago and that time it did store an error code that said it was the egr. I also had to have the clutch replace a week after I had the car as well. The code reader was a hand held one that green flag use but I have booked it into my local ford garage this time for a more in depth diagnostic to be done and was told over the phone that 9times out of 10 it finds the problem. I just really hope its covered on the warranty what ever it is

You got far more chance of ford diag equipment finding a fault than a generic one used by green flag etc.
Even if not covered by warranty hopefully ford diagnose so you can shop around and find cheaper, just make sure you get a printout of the stored fault codes if any.

So I could take it to a different garage to get the fault fixed then, never knew that and thank you. I only passed my test last august and had this car since January and its been nothing but trouble this will be its 4th time in the garage

Yes you can you will be paying ford to diagnose it so they will give a printout of fault code and estimate of any repairs required, you are then free to go to any garage you choose to get it fixed, assuming the ford diagnosis is correct anyway..
