Morning all!

mk 2 1.9td auto, after the never ending saga for the Auto gearbox 3k in now an running grate !, she has developed a limp home mode issue, Scan comes back with over an under boost codes, this can happen at least 2-3 time every morning on the commute to work, so assuming its the sticky vanes, my question is, how much of a nightmare is it to remove the turbo? ( I do have loads for kit and the use of a 2 post ramp)
would a day see it off stripped cleaned an refitted?

thanks guys

There are methods, on other sites..., for using Mr Muscle oven cleaner in situ to clean the turbo.  Might be worth gurgling for a bit - it could save you considerable time.

Yea I've watched a few of those vids an "how to" guides, have the feeling it goes beyond Mr Muscle. as at one point it was only going into limp now an then after over taking or some aggressive driving, now with it doing to on the daily commute where 80% of the trip is in 30mph zones an 1 50mph stretch I fear the cleaner wound cut it, going away over the crimbo brake so need it to be good for motorway trips, I've got tomorrow an charismas eve morning to lend the lift so maybe its just worth going for it!!

Mr muscle and a length of silicone pipe will have it sorted,it will clean even the most gunged up of turbos. Far easier than removing turbo and no need to renew any seals/gaskets.
I did mine while head was off rather than stripping and was amazed at amount of crap that came out.
My mate did his Passat in situ left overnight then did a good old Italian tune up after, was good as new.

Oh right! So wats the easiest way then? Turbo pipes off the turbo, an disconnect exhaust down pipe? So do I block the holes up an fill it? An leave it?

It's not Mr muscle but it's all I could fine in the local shop on the way to our shop, so it's in an with in 2 or 3 pumps of the actuator arm it fell loads better! So just leaving it in there for a good hour, I'll refit egr pipe whilst waiting an give it a go!!

Keep working the arm while stuff is in there to ensure it loosens fully, when you start and drive all the crap will pour out of exhaust

Thanks for the advice guys! All done running grate! Took it out for a gentle run for about 8 miles until she was nice an hot then thrashed the hell out of it, she's an auto so just planted the throttle into the floor an unleashed the power lol, it's like a Different car! An no limp home!!! [emoji1][emoji1]

Glad you got it sorted and only cost a couple of hours of your time and a few quid ;D
