Non starting Galaxy

Hi I am new to this forum and was hoping for some suggestions with a problem I have encountered

I recently bought a 2000 1.9tdi Galaxy, I have changed the timing belt and water pump, which seemed OK, the car started ok, i took the car out then when tried to restart the car, nothing would happen.  I have checked all the fuses, checked all the grounds I could find, I have changed relay 109, taken the starter motor out and connected to the battery and it worked ok.

The symptoms are:-

The engine does not turn over at all
The central locking, electric Windows, interior lights, hazards do not work.  There is a clicking from what I believe to be coming from the central locking module. It's the one attached to the fuse box with the mini fuses going vertical
I have also checked the fuses in the engine bay and they seem OK
Any help or suggestions would be really appreciated

That sounds like low voltage, but I suspect you have checked the battery out and its ok?

Check the state of the wiring in the engine bay fuse box, especially the 2nd cable down

Thanks for your reply, I did check the battery and it seems ok. I also tried to jump it from another car but nothing happened

I checked the fuses in the engine bay, the 2nd one down, although intact is a bit twisted - could that be causes all these problems?

I will recheck all the wires from that fuse box again

Big thank you - it turned out to be the second fuse in the engine bay, although it looked ok when I took it out it broke in half.

That's my fuse box. This is a common fault on the high current connections.  When the engine has been running carefully check the temperature of the fat wires going into the Auxilliary fuse box.  They will get hot enough to burn you if there is a problem with high resistance crimps.  Any thing that seems too hot probably is and may require the crimps replacing or at least soldering to prevent failure again.
