Today i bit the bullet and had the broken pipe (suction?) On my mk2 replaced with a nice shiny flexi rubber one. Local specialists cant recommend them enough. Done in about an hour , regassed no leaks and blowing cold. Cost Ã,£150

The owners manual warns not to obstruct the sensor, described as being between the centre screen vents and left side of display
What sensor?? Is it that black bit sticking up btween the clock and windscreen?
And any idea what temp I should be getting at the vents? Havent stuck a thermometer in yet. Seem to recal the old mk1 bkowing at around 8/9 degrees

Cheers Dave

The one behind the clock on the dash is the sun load sensor, unless they're referring to the cabin temperature sensor on the left hand side of the climate control panel which clogs up with dust?

The air con on my Galaxy doesn't feel as cold as either the missuses Touran nor the Ka I had before though I haven't directly measured it. Silverbeast reckoned with all other vents closed and the rear air con off his got down to about 8 degrees C....
Always learning..... Often by mistakes!

well that was short lived !!
cleaned the fan up as suggested in insanity's post wasn't clogged really but hey
been out again and noticed control panel flashing again
scanned it and got 00792 a/c pressure switch ,so im guessing there's still a leak somewhere
maybe a bit hasty in recommending these guys,  but used them in the past so will wait and see what tomorrow brings

Did they put the dye in so it shows up if you get a further leak? it's usually a bright green colour.

With VCDS lite (full version) need a code clearing or want to scan for faults in the north kent area, PM me. All for a pint of Strongbow.

Went back today, condensor gave up the ghost presumably didnt like having gas in it
Having already paid for the pipe repair, knowing that system works and as planning on keeping it a while longer let tgem fit a new one.
Blimey its chilly now
Apparently its had a condensor before as access holes had been made to get to condensor
Will keep an eye on it and report back

Still working !
On that note, presumably there is a bit in the cabin that transfers the cold inside
This will be icing up and thawing in normal operation, where does it drain out? Would like to check its clear before getting a wet carpet☺

In drains out into the engine bay. Look on the bulkhead, just below the ABS controller and you'll find a small stumpy exit pipe.

Thats behind the main ecu and expanson tank isnt it?

Yeah, well behind the expansion tank (the suspension tower is behind the ECU) - you'll probably find it easy to find by going under the car. I've never heard of one having issues though so you should be fine.

Found it !! Thanks Mirez, shoved a length of wire up it till it came out wet and cold☺

Cool (boom boom), I've actually got a length of pond hose on mine to feed it down to behind the steering rack as I didn't like that the sound proofing gets soggy every time you use the AC.
