Good evening all!

I just bought myself a Galaxy, and I'm having an issue.
The heating sometimes just stops and only blows cold air. And, when I check the coolant, the water expansion tank is building up pressure.
I have already removed the expansion tank, blood on all tubes and no resistance anywhere...
Put it back on, toped it up with coolant, and it Apparently was fine for a couple of days. Now, after 100od miles, started to do the same thing.
The oil is not mixing with the water and vice-versa. No smoke coming out of the exhaust.
it has a new water pump and thermostat (just serviced).

I have been googling a lot,. and a lot of people say that there's a pressure return valve somewhere "close" to the expansion tank that becomes blocked with the age...
Can anyone help me out with this?
I don't have any picture or clues to the location of this valve...

Anyone?

Thanks ;)

Hello and  welcome5

The valve or restriction is in the return hose to the bottle, have a read through the link below as this will help.

With VCDS lite (full version) need a code clearing or want to scan for faults in the north kent area, PM me. All for a pint of Strongbow.

Will do!
Thanks!
Tomorrow ill take it apart and have a look :D

I just hope it isn't the head gasket...

PS: By the way, does the Galaxy have a "drain" function on its main radiator? or I have to take the bottom water tube out ?

Thanks once more

Definitely no drain plug on the 130ps TDI although it is a slightly different radiator to the 115ps model, so yes, I would say it'll be a bottom hose off job if you want to drain it.
Always learning..... Often by mistakes!

Welkl, i   removed that little bastard, aka, the little tube that goes into the top of the expansion tank, and now I can see the water going back to the tank, and no pressure is building up! )at least for 200miles....)

Thanks for the tips guys!

And it has started again....
I'm fed up woth it now, leaving it to the mechanic to sort it out...
BUT, He will test all the parts before ordering and fitting new ones..

We'll see how it goes!

did you remove tube or just rod it
Toot-Toot! Beep-Beep!

I removed it, and placed a new one, with the same diameter and lenght, but without the "choker".
