my central locking works OK on 3 doors but one of the rear doors doesn't lock I haven't a clue how long it has been this way as I have never checked the doors after pressing the button. Until my son opened the rear door before I had unlocked it I was unaware of the problem it could have been like this ever since I've owned it.

Gaiter wiring I would look at first, this is most common.
The drivers door usually suffers more due to it being used more, although it's not unheard of for the rear's and tailgate to cause problems.

As Chris said check door gaiters , ive had to do rear and front  offside in last 4 months  latest on Wednesday all my windows went down and wouldn't go up  checked wiring and there was a split wire
