Hi all, I currently have an 01 Galaxy Ghia 1.9 TDI with sports pack but looking to upgrade as having a few issues with my current car losing coolant, oil leak, and electric faults. I am looking to spend between Ã,£5k and Ã,£6k which puts my in a ball park for a late MK11 and early MK111 models, but I am not sure which way to go as I like the VW engine in the MK11 and the MK111 looks more modern. Any opinions or suggestions to which model I should get would be great, thanks  :)

Having had several of both, the 1.9 PD engine was a superb, but the 2.2 TDCi in my current Mk III (although I believe it has a specially balanced camshaft), is so much smoother and perkier. The power delivery and exceptional handling is so much more refined than the Mk2s I had previously; also, the cavernous space and fold flat seats are a blessing after physically having to remove and store the heavy seats from the Mk2s.
