driver door lock

hi ive just bought a mk1 galaxy I went to lock it last night and noticed the key will turn full circles in the door lock but doesn't actually lock the doors I tried locking from passenger side but this doesn't trigger the central locking any ideas pls

Hi and welcome to the forum
You will probably need new lock paddles to repair the one going round and round, these come as a kit and you need to remove the outer door handle to do them.
You may also need to check for broken wiring in the rubber gaiter and considering the age of the car it's probably not the first time It's been repaired.

ok thank you I will check the wires tomorrow as I found some broken today in the rear hatch and repaired them which has got the rear fogs/rev lights and rear wiper working ty for the advice

i do believe on ebay you can get a locking repair kit?

yeah you can gregers..... thats where i bought mine but you need to measure the paddle as there different lengths
