hi all can anybody help?
I'm trying to find some guidance on how to change the fan belt tensioner and fan belt on my 2001 mk2 Ford Galaxy Zetec 2.3 petrol, there is a plastic wheel it is just an idler or is it the tensioner,
when its making that squeal/scrapping sound i have been spraying some spray grease to the back of the plastic wheel and the squeal/scrapping noise stops.

i have took a pic of what it looks like hope someone can help
thank you

Hello and  welcome5

Can't help you with removal of tensioner but have you checked the other driven pulleys like water pump, alternator, and aircon for roughness as these particularly the aircon can cause the belt to squeal.

Hi . I had same problem on my previous Galaxy . Noise comes from dry bearing . Its loosing Greece because of rain water and salt on roads  . I bought that tensioner pulley on its own on ebay for about Ã,£ 20 . Very easy to replace and make sure you have under tray fitted otherwise pulley will get noisy again (because of its silly location ) . Hope this helps  :)
