Hi all
This is my 1st post and I know there will probably a post on here about this somewhere, but I'll have to ask the question...
Heater fault is glow plug open circuit, ok, removed plug which was a short screw in one the two wires fixed to it. The one I was recommended to use was a beru0017d-963-319, now this plug has no wires attached and is quite longer. I have been to a vw dealer which is nearer to me then a ford dealer and they gave me a plug with wires on, a square cap but no thread on it.
I'm not sure if I can use the beru one because I don't know where the wires should go, so don't really want to do damage. So is there a plug that's a straight swap or do I need to modify one?
Thanks all
What year is the car? There are 3 types of plug fitted which seem to vary by when the car was built...

Right the plug you have with the thread and wires is 7M3 963 319A this is the modified plug that replaces 7D0 963 319 (Beru GH001)
The one with wires and no thread is for the later heater
Regarding the plug for the later heater (no thread and wires)

How much did VW charge/want for it and do you have a part number. Mine works for a bit then comes up with either "Glow plug open circuit" or "Glow plug closed circuit" !!!
I suspect that the controller is flaky have a 2nd hand replacement heater being delivered today (fiited new to a 2005 car in 2012) but would be interested in replacing the plug on mine to try it if it's not too pricy.
It's a 53 plate.
That's the 1st type of plug I was given, I'm waiting for the new plug to turn up on Monday from vw, the price is Ã,£58 compared to fords price of Ã,£82. I'll post the part number on Monday.
Thanks all
