and a big one at that. Coming home tonight I got pulled over and fined Ã,£30 :( been given a defect notice and now have 7 days to present the car for a "test".
1) anyone have a spare set of headlight?! I had to mod the back to fit teh ballest thing so will need to replace them
2) anyone been for this test? are they just gonna check the lighta or give the car a good seeing over?
really worried now, will they tell my insurance company?
It's about time they started clamping down on those illegal lights.
I am a night HGV driver and the amount of cars with these dazzling lights and I'm sitting high up it must be even worse when your nearer the ground.
and the foreign vehicles trucks included without beam deflectors, GGrr >:(
Not to compound your problem but, Good! These things are crap, lighting is about safety for all road users not just the driver and no matter what marketing hype they claim with shutters, diffusers, cut-offs and shields, the simple fact is that HID kits will NEVER produce a safe non dazzling beam when retrofitted to a halogen reflector.
Anyway, to answer your questions I have a spare passenger headlight you can have although its more or a carcess as it has no bulbs or levelling motor, easy to swap those bits over and yours if you cover the postage.
Secondly, who are testing it? MoT station, VOSA office or police station? At a guess I would say an MoT station would do a standard MoT test, a police station would just test the lights and a VOSA office would give it a full looking over.
Yeah ok I know I know anyway new headlights in and test done. the VRDS test is done at an mot station and is like an mot and costs 55 squid :(
