Title: mk 2 alarm malfunction
Post by: 372xp on October 16, 2013, 09:37:37 PM
Is there any way to disable the alarm? If the car is locked the alarm keeps going off intermitantly. Consequently  we always have to leave the car unlocked, no idea why it should do this but it is very annoying.
I did have flooded footwells for a while but replaced the windscreen and this sorted the problem but could this have damaged anything to do with the alarm?

you press the lock button twice to disable the alarm or turn key twice.

Is that the lock button on the key or on drivers door? My key only works in the lock on n/s front, as I had to replace drivers door handle for the last mot.

If it works the central locking and is arming the alarm from the passenger door you should be able to disable it as described above.
You should have been able to swap the locks between the original handle and the replacement on the drivers side. Probably still can of you have the bits you removed.

Yeah its real easy to swap the lock barrels, with the handle off the car, remove the C clip on the back then use the key to rotate and withdraw the barrel.
