Title: Auto gearbox problem 2010 galaxy
Post by: Darren Streeton on October 13, 2013, 08:43:49 PM
2010 TDI Galaxy auto gearbox doesn't not seem to be working smoothly when pulling away ,also when driving at a steady pace the rev counter goes up and down, engine revs up and down, any ideas?

Hi and  welcome5

Poor engine running/performance will have an affect on gear changes, a dodgy MAF sensor can have that affect on the MK2 auto.
Have you noticed the engine light on at all when driving. you may have fault codes stored so may be worth having a scan.

The engine management light has come on twice over the last 6 months but went out again shortly after. How easy is it to change the sensor?

The MAF sensor is located in the air inlet pipe from the air filter to the engine, they are quite expensive but don't go straight out and get one yet.
Do you do a lot of short start stop driving?

Is the car serviced regularly?

Regular servicing and it mainly does short stop start trips

Thinking  you may be getting dmf problems caused by interupted regeneration, can you take the car on a fast road for at least 40mins to an hour.
See if there's an improvement.

Will give it a go, unfortunately this is part of a long list of problems I've had with this car

If you still have the same problem after the drive then I think a scan would be advisable if you have other problems aswell.
