have anybody tried to renew automatic transmission oil from 6speed auto transmission pls,,
I'm new here and looking for the same info....is there NO-one on this Forum that changes their own oil?? (gearbox and/or engine)
I'm sure that plenty of people do a DIY engine oil and filter change, but you have to bear in mind that when there are petrol and diesel engine variants to consider as well as numerous engine capacities which all have different oil filter locations and types, different oil fill quantities etc, and different removal tools etc for the filters and sump plugs, it's difficult to have a 'one article covers all' procedure. Do you need a procedure for a particular engine size/type?
As for auto transmissions, changing the oil at home is less common a) Because auto boxes tend to not have a set fluid change interval specified by the manufacturer (they're often considered 'filled for life' - that's not to say changing it once in a while is a bad thing!) and b) Because quite often, to accurately check the fluid temperature (required for an accurate fluid level reading) requires certain diagnostic equipment, and is a little more involved than an engine oil change as generally certain procedures must be followed when refilling the oil to ensure the oil is at the correct temperature and fully circulated throughout the transmission before you check the level, in many cases the engine has to be running, NOT static as you do this.
Thanks, yes I was looking for info on Auto 2010 S-Max, 2.0L TDCi 140.... all working fine except a few seconds delay when selecting reverse gear, before beginning to move.
I don't have access (anymore) to Ford E-TIS which would have the fluid change procedure in it, I believe there are places online where you can download it, though I'm not sure on the legality.... Also, quite often they don't cover the latest stuff, perhaps if one of the mods sees this they may be able to help.....
As I said previously, actually physically changing the oil may not be that difficult, but you need to know how to accurately check the level once you've done it, i.e, engine static or running, if the oil needs to be at a certain temperature when checking etc.
Hi Im not sure on the procedure but the quantity is 7ltr from empty if that helps
