Title: Ford Galaxy - Cup Holder Removal (Mk2)
Post by: Mirez on July 14, 2013, 12:50:15 PM
Removing the cup holder's isn't difficult on the Galaxy but if you don't know how they are released it's certainly not obvious!

They are held by two lugs (each) that locate into groves on the top of the holder:

Start by opening the holder and pressing down on the top plastic to compress the mechanism:

With the mechanism compressed we can look in to see the two slots that allow the lugs to be lifted:

Insert something strong into each slot to lift the lug and allow the cup holder to be pulled out. It may be easier to do one side at a time by rocking the holder out:

Notes:
The Cup holder isn't that strong when being pulled from the mechanism so don't force it!
Early Mk2's have illuminated cup holders with a wiring plug at the rear
There are few variants of holder and some have a ridge half way down that will catch the lugs as withdrawn. Just repeat the process.
