Hello, I have recently bought a 1998 galaxy td glx 87bhp. When the engine is running there is a constant hissing noise coming from the central vent area or behind the heating control panel. It is regardless of whether air con is on or off. Any ideas?
And if you turn the ventilation system off entirely?
Yes, this hissing is there all the time regardless of whether the blower is on or off or whether the recycled air is on or off.
Probably not to do with the HVAC system then -
If its a diesel then IIRC there is a vacuum pipe right behind the console for boost pressure
If its a petrol then has it got cruise? The cruise system is all vacuum on petrols so good also be leaking.
It's a diesel td 87bhp. What does IIRC mean? And do you think the vacuum pipe is likely to be leaking then?
iirc=if i remember correctly ;)
Oh...ok. Live and learn :). Will check the boost pipes and report back
How do you get behind the control panel anyone please?
The instrument cluster?
