Hi, is there a way to look at the engine of my galaxy( 2002 zetec) and tell if it has a timing chain or a timing belt?

All the petrol engines have chains, diesels have belts.

iirc the later part of 2003 was when it changed to 60k replacement.before that it was 40k.
