Title: Black smoke
Post by: ashy401 on June 19, 2013, 11:47:13 PM
Hi I am after any advice on how to sort my car out. I have an 02 reg galaxy tdi 115. I had the can belt and water pump changed last month. When I accelerate hard it produces loads of black smoke out of the back seems to be when the boost kicks in. I have no power loss that I can tell and I haven't noticed a drop in oil or coolant level.
I did plug it into laptop an got a couple of fault codes:
1- coolant sensor
2- parking sensor
3- aux heated glow plug
4- a/c pressure switch
The car has done 209000 miles
Any help would be appreciated

Coolant sensor can have an effect as it is linked with the engine ECU

Has it done it strait away after the cam-belt was changed? I would suggest the timing's not been done correctly if that's the case - else as Chris suggests the sensor will have an effect on cooling.

Hi thank you for the replies. I will have to wait til next weekend to change the coolant sensor.
I have only recently brought the car an didn't drive it much before the cambelt was changed. I do remember the guy in the garage saying the timing was out by one tooth. I don't remember it smoking before hand. I will try an call them tomorrow to get it booked back in for check.
