Title: Seized spark plugs
Post by: strett1972 on June 08, 2013, 12:56:26 PM
I have been offered another mk2 v6 ghia with an intermittent misfire , it's been to a garage and its no4 cylinder that's at fault but two of the plugs will not budge! All this information has come from the seller I have not looked into this myself as I'm just testing the water before I make an offer.... Any solutions on how to remove them? I'm  guessing it was an expensive fix for them not to get it done!

You need to clarify if the plug is seized to the cylinder or the coil pack to the plug... Former, just get a giant breaker bar on it and it should budge. Latter, you dont have much to grip and they've been known to split :(

How much and what spec?

It's worth a punt at Ã,£500 as you'll get that back easily - go for it!

Done the deal ! all but one plug removed but i have a solution for that coil packs ordered. Looking at either tuning and chipping engine or gas conversion also got sports suspension kit with -40mm springs to put on it then looking for some nice rims. ;D

They don't chip that well tbh - no n/a engines do!

Take photo's along the way and good luck with it!

All plugs out with the aid of a little warmth. Now the strip down begins!!
