This subject has probably been done to death, so apologies if it is boring.
I have been sticking to the 4 year interval for cambelt changes on our BRT engine (2.0 litre PD I think), but I recently got wind of a change of policy at VW/SEAT UK, with suggestions that the interval had been considerably relaxed. So I sent off a request for information and the response I received states that the recommended interval is now 60,000 miles.
The last change was in March 2021 and our current annual mileage is such that a 60K interval would see us through for at least another two years, possibly three.
Has anybody got any views on this subject, especially in the light of the apparent change of policy?
VAG recommended to me a 40,000 mile cam belt change, which I had done. My Sharan currently has 78.000 miles. 60,000 mile interval sounds more realistic to me, but I guess I have to go along with official recommendation.
60,000 is correct, I had mine done again last year--but also own a Fabia SDI & now a T5 campervan TDI . So, the Skoda and campervan have been done regardless of service history as they are also PD engines, I used INA kits because I have done since buying the Galaxy in 2004.
Thanks, Daddyfixit - your comments make me more confident that I can relax and start counting miles.
