Title: airbag light on, no comms to diag socket
Post by: daddyfixit on July 03, 2024, 09:37:46 AM
Airbag light came on;  used vcds to find no comms from dashboard CAN line to diag socket.  Gave car to auto electrician who said module in dash that is connected to airbag module between seats is not communicating via can bus lines.  using breakout box it points to the clocks, so I got a set with same part number but still no comms ??     doing my fkin head in as cars off the road & I have bought a T5 camper now to replace it..........help ???

got the galaxy back yesterday ; After the electrician put his hands up and said he cannot find the problem to fix it, I got hold of an airbag controller (1 of 8 possible variations on fitment) and asked him to just fit it as it must be the only part that does any communicating ???    The airbag light was finally switched off----the unit had failed somehow and was blocking comms to dash/diagnostic plug.   So now i have a car with all trims off to access the whole airbag loom, and replacing old/brittle plastic is one BARSTEWARD !!!!     I am hoping to get it to the valeters early next week so its spotless as it can be, and needs rust scab sorting out on nearside.    then see how much It can be sold for as I cant keep 3 x cars for just me & the Mrs to drive around in, a cheap galaxy will help out a larger family I assume.

I got the car cleaned up, she passed the MOT test and glad to say----I did NOT get rid of it !! So its a juggling game to see which car is accessable & has diesel in before deciding which one to jump in !!   I still have the scabby /rust to sort out (deffo before winter) and re-mot it to keep on the road during crappy weather.
