Good morning,I have a problem with my gear linkage cable.
The plastic end that does the front to back movement
has snapped.
I have been unsuccessful in locating a replacement cable using my vehicles details and listings for VW or seat vehicles say that the cable is not compatible with my vehicle

Is the plastic end a socket type that is screwed on to cable and has some adjustment?

Thank you but unfortunately not,the end is (was) moulded to the end of the rod
I the plastic bit on the end is similar in appearance to those linkage catches,Bor the top is solid, The underside is a ball housing which connects to the ball on the gearbox selector

I might add the end on the lower cable end is blue, sorry I don't know how to upload a photo here

Your best bet to obatin one may be to contact the listings for Galaxy Breaking on eBay, its not a common bit to have issues with. No idea if the mk1 and mk2 is the same though suspect not - others might be able to confirm this. Having struggled to obtain a clutch hose for a mk2 recently, you may struggle to get a new replacement unless some old stock is kicking about somewhere.
Assuming its a manual, then the only part number i can find for the mk1 from Ford is 1418863 if thats any help.

Thanks for the replies.I think a bit of modification may be the order of the day, hopefully a linkage clip can be modified to fit the end of the rod.
The replacement is available is as stated pricey especially as the clutch also requires replacement.
Hopefully then the car will be good for another 270,000 miles

Cut a short piece off the end and welded to the original end of the cable
Funnily enough if it was a threaded rod on end of cable I was going to suggest a Peugeot linkage just a different one to them. I used one on an Alfa Romeo that had worn ball joint socket.
