Title: Stop leak products power steering
Post by: MrBen on May 06, 2022, 03:47:12 PM
Hello all. Could you recommend a stop leak product for leaking power steering? There is a few out there, but leak is quite drastic, so probably need a better one. Hopefully will work til get rack sorted

Apparently I have to use expensive CF fluid in the steering rack? I'm sure I put dexron in my previous vehicle, although it was a galaxy, and not an Alhambra, but I thought they would have been the same?

The steering fluid cap is green, so I'm assuming it is the CF fluid. Odd how my galaxy (2002) I could use the fluid in, I would have thought the racks are the same?

Is it cf or is it a specific vag fluid that's green in colour? We used to use some pas fluid that was green in vauxhall electro pneumatic systems but it wasn't cf.

Chf 11s is the spec needed. Just strange it wasn't that spec in my galaxy.

Not that this is likely to be much help now, but a reasonably priced green power steering fluid option is Febi 46161- a quick look on ebay shows a few UK sellers selling it for about £12 a litre. I know this because I'm looking into whether it's worth me changing the leaking steering rack on my 2004 1.9 TDI (I think my Galaxy is filled with the green stuff)  :bash:

Info on the oil here (which AutoDoc list as being suitable for the Mk2 Galaxy):
