Hello all!
Would anyone know if the heatguard/protector back plate thing is easy to remove? If its easy thinking buying a new one as mine has corroded...cheers

I changed my rear brake discs a few years back and I seem to recall that once the disc is off, the three fixing bolts for the round shield behind the brake assembly are easily accessible. The round shield/back plate also has a large 'U' shaped cutout or slot which allows the plate to drop away from the hub. If you check the 7zap OEM catalogue, the rear brake exploded diagram shows the back plate, three fixing bolts and access slot quite clearly. But you do have to remove the disc to get at the fixing bolts ( as I recall). I noticed that mine were picking up surface corrosion, when I changed the discs, so I might be going back soon to treat them before they perforate.

Incidentally, if anyone needs to remove surface corrosion from small steel components which can be removed from the vehicle, I recommend WHITE vinegar. Immerse the item in a bucket and leave overnight. Rinse off with copious amounts of water.
