Anyone tackled this? We have managed to get the pedal off the car, cylinder out, new one can go back in place but getting the spring back on the pedal is causing issues, not least because the instructions tell you to place the spring in the installation position, but no indication of what that position actually is! It seems that you position the spring, then clip the pedal back in place, then move the spring to its operating position?
Hopefully this will solve the complete loss of clutch I had last night, which ended up leaving me stuck at the junction of the A1 and A406!
Its a MK2 petrol 2.3 2001 model if that makes any difference.
Hey, I think I can't help you as I haven't done this job before. The only thing I could do is take pictures from the situation in my mk1 2.3 if it's the same and specific to the 2.3.
We have the master cylinder swapped, but looking like the problems caused by it have also caused the slave to fail. Its not a particaully nice job to tackle!
One thing that might help - the acclerator pedal has a clip on the end nearest the pedal, is there a plastic bush at that end of it on yours (may be different if yours is lefthand drive!)
oh yes i've forgotten for a sec that yours is righthand drive haha. Do you mean where the accelerator pedal pivots? or higher?
Where it pivots from please, I've checked the parts list but nothing is shown, it just doesn't seem quite right!
hey, sorry for the late respond, I lost track of the forum for a while. Still don't see clearly what you mean haha, sorry. maybe a picture can help? Or if it's fixed meanwhile, that would be great of course
A piccy says 1000 words
The bit I'm asking about is at the end of the rod that the pedal pivots on. I suspect I've lost a part of the pedal assembly here, as its loose (should there be a plastic bush or similar part where the clip goes into to hold the rod in place)?

Sorry...a bit off topic, but how do you add a picture on here? Cheers
Also Brian about your issue, is the slave cylinder inside the bell housing of gearbox like on the mk2 diesels?

Yes. Intact it seems to be the same clutch for some of them as the petrol.

Press the preview button then you will see the attachments options
Excellent cheers
Oh that looks very different. I have a very different plastic accelerator pedal on the 2.3 mk1 and I don't see such a clip, so can't help you with that. Sorry

Thanks for trying, Will contiune searching, its very odd that its not showing anything on the parts list either
Fixed it, Used a bit of plastic pipe over the end pushed onto the shaft. Seems its only some of the petrol models that have this setup - possibly only ones with the cruise control setup.
