The bulb failure warning light in the dash is on permanently - even when the exterior lights are not on. I have checked all the exterior bulbs but all are working. Does this light illuminate for other faults?????
I take it you've checked the brake lights as well?
Yip - brake lights & no plate lights checked.
Have you fitted any LED bulbs in the brake lights? If so loading may not be right for the detection circuit. Try ordinary bulbs and see if that fixes it.
Apologies if you are already aware, if lights are off I think it's only going to monitor the brake lights and ill stay on until you press the brake the first time. If the brake light switch isn't working your brake lights won't come on and it won't go out. Not sure if it also checks the high level brake light as well. I assume you (or an assistant!) have checked that brake lights are illuminating when you press the pedal.
No LED's just the standard bulb fitment and yes brake lights have been checked too.
AFAIK sidelights (front & x4 rears & no plate) are not monitored, everything else is. Check full beam & front fogs as they can often be missed. Check fuse 27 (bottom l/h horizontal 25amp).
Ok firstly, let's just check the super obvious and thats its the lamp fail warning. Should look like a lightbulb in orange colour if so. Does it not say which lamp it thinks is out in the info panel when you turn the ignition on?
Could also be the wiring to the 3rd brake light shorting out in the tailgate rubber.
Thanks - The fuse is OK as are the front fogs and full beam, yes it is the lamp fail warning light and no there is nothing in the info panel either, however after I removed and checked the bulbs in the rear light clusters I have found that the warning light goes out when the brake pedal is pressed. I never noticed this happening before.
Well thats correct operation ;)
One less thing to worry about!
Many thanks for your help, one of the rear brake light bulbs must not of been making a good contact.
