After driving through a puddle the power steering has cut out completely for about 5-10 seconds then comes back on, there are no warning lights displayed or any noises to be heard.
For the past week a whining noise has started, the noise is all the time. This noise gets faster when accelerating and whines down when slowing down. The noise stops when the clutch is pressed down-(dis-engaging the engine)
The steering has been stiff when starting in cold conditions but loosens after a couple of minutes.
Power steering cut out completely when trying to reverse park at slow speed but steering on full lock/nearly full lock. But worked again next time car was started, several hours later.
I don't think the steering is as light as it was when we bought it, nearly 2 years ago.
might need a new steering pump.any fault codes come up on the on board diagnostics??
there does seem to be a couple of tsbs on steering problems on the smax, might well be on the mk3 galaxy aswell.
Hi Thanks for reply.
No messages come up on the On-board computer.
Is that an easy job to do yourself?
